I’ve lost 30 pounds of my pregnancy weight. Woohoo! Now I only have 18 more to go.
Kenny and I have been married for 7 years today. It really seems like yesterday and yet at the same time, it seems like a lifetime ago. Time flies by so fast. I am so glad God brought Kenny into my life and brought us together under the sacred covenant of marriage. I continue to pray for God’s guidance and blessings and divine wisdom for our lives and marriage. God is so good!
Here is the pledge we made to each other on this day seven years ago:
“Kenny, wilt thou have this woman to be thy wedded wife, to live together after God’s holy ordinance, in the holy estate of matrimony? Wilt thou love her, comfort, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, keep thee only unto her, so long as ye both shall live.
Julie, wilt thou have this man to be thy wedded husband, to live together after God’s holy ordinance, in the holy estate of matrimony? Wilt thou love him, comfort, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, keep thee only unto him, so long as ye both shall live.”
And here are the vows we spoke to each other on that day:
“I, Gary Kenneth Pyatt, take thee, Julie Emilyne Zajas, to be my wife, according to the ordinances of God, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish till God by death doth separate us and thereto I pledge my faith.
I, Julie Emilyne Zajas, take you Gary Kenneth Pyatt, to be my husband, according to the ordinances of God, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish till God by death doth separate us and thereto I pledge my faith.”
My favorite part of the ceremony was when Kenny’s dad, Gary, spoke concerning the creation of man and woman:
“In creation, Adam, the man was first formed, then the woman, Eve, say the scriptures that the woman might be for the man, setting forth the humility, modesty, and gentleness that should characterize her kind.
Yet man, in being made the last of all of God’s creatures, was set forth as the best and most excellent of all of God’s creative works.
So Eve’s being made after Adam and out of him sets an honor upon the woman as being the glory of man.
If the man is the head, she is the crown- a crown to her husband. The man was dust refined, but the woman was doubly refined – one step further from the earth.
In being created from man, or out of man, she was not: out of his head to dominate, or to be over him, nor out of his feet to be under him, or trampled upon by him, but out of his side to be equal with him, from under his arm to be protected by him, and near to his heart to be loved by him.”
God is truly incredible. His design is beautiful and I continue to thank Him for my marriage to Kenny. I love you Kenny!
If there is one thing in my life I would really like to improve, it would be my ability to manage time. I want to get better at this. I was on time to pick up Kate from daycare last night and that made me feel good. Now I just need to work on being on time to everything. I have a harder time in the mornings cause I am definitely not a morning person. I can only improve so that’s what I’m working on.
I have so many things I want to accomplish in my life and I need to learn how to better 1) prioritize what is most important and 2) get better at managing the time I spend on the important things.
I’m trying to be positive about this. I can do it! At least I’m really going to try.
You should check out Kenny’s new podcast. It’s awesome and it really gives the listeners a chance to be involved. www.roguefalcon.com
Yesterday Melissa and Trevor invited us to go to Cripple Creek farm with them and their playgroup. It was SOOO much fun! It’s an exotic animal farm so we got to see elk, reindeer, zebra, kangaroos, water buffalo, and tons of other animals. They had the normal farm animals too like goats and chickens, etc. Kate got to ride on a wagon pulled by a Shetland pony. She loved it! She got to play in a caboose. And (the best part) we got to go on a hay ride and see an ostrich do the “ostrich shuffle.” Then one of the kids on the hay ride started imitating the ostrich and did his version of the ostrich shuffle. Hilarious!
The great thing is the farm is completely free. Where can you get a whole morning of entertainment and experiences for $0.00??? They do request donations, which we did, but I was still very impressed with the facility and the fact that it’s free. Wow! HIGHLY recommend taking your kiddos there.
Thank you Melissa and Trevor for an amazing day of fun! ![]()
I have battled with negative thoughts, unhappiness and bad circumstances as much as the next person. Everyone has these things in their life. But how we react to them is different. I have reacted with negativity and pessimism in the past. I am trying a new tactic now… a Biblical tactic. God is good and it’s time for me to proclaim it… regardless of my present circumstances.
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!” Philippians 4:4
Notice it says always!! Not only when times are good. Always!
” 1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a]have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[b] rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3Not only so, but we[c] also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;4perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. “ Romans 5:1-5
These verses are chalked full of reasons we should not dwell on the troubles of this life.
- We are justified! I was guilty but now I am not guilty.
- We have peace!
- We have access to Jesus Christ!
- We stand in God’s grace!
- We have the hope of the glory of God!
- Even if we suffer, that suffering eventually produces perseverance, character and hope!
- We are loved by God!
- We have the Holy Spirit, a gift directly from God!
I am going to dwell on these things today, not on the bad and the ugly. God is so good!
So a lot of you will probably laugh hysterically at me when you read this, but I don’t care. :-p I was just typing an e-mail and accidentally hit a combination of keys that ended up deleting a full word, instead of just one letter. I had no idea you could do that!!! Ctrl + Delete is my new best friend. That is the greatest thing in the universe! Well, you know… almost the greatest thing in the universe. ;-) This will save me so much time! Yay! Now I just need to figure out a way to do that with texting… he he.
You know how they say a picture is worth a thousand words? This post should be self explanatory then. Love y’all! Hope you enjoy Kate’s first Halloween.
