I discovered the other day “Parent’s Choice” diapers (I believe they are the Wal-Mart brand) size 3 work just as well as the “Pampers Cruisers” size 3 diapers and we’ll save a little more than $250/year by buying the non-name brand type. Woot!

“Can you afford to pay another 80 cents per gallon for gas? Motorists will pay the most to fund a climate change bill under consideration in Congress. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, the price of a gallon of gasoline could increase 33%, or 80 cents more per gallon, by 2020 if the current bill becomes a law. Now more than ever, we can’t afford to pay more!
Visit www.fuel-america.com to find out what you can do to help keep gas prices low!” quoted from literature provided by Murphy USA
UPDATE: “by only a handful of votes, the U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the Waxman-Markey bill (H.R. 2454). The comprehensive global warming legislation would increase energy prices, decrease U.S. economic output, and destroy scores of domestic jobs just as we are try to crawl out of a recession. The Senate is expected to consider similar legislation in the coming weeks.” quoted from http://www.fuel-america.com/issue_alert.asp?g=ARENERGY&issue=letter&parent=ARENERGY
Go to the website and contact our Senators. It’s not too late! I did it and it only took me five minutes (if that). God bless America!

So I did the unthinkable today and accidentally locked my car keys… and my daughter… in my car. No, the car was not running. Yes, it was mildly hot outside. I felt absolutely horrible! Of course, thank God for policemen and husbands who came to my rescue!
Kate is fine now. I’m not fine but that’s just part of having mommy guilt.

While Kate and I were in Texas visiting my mom, I got to go horseback riding. I haven’t been in FOREVER so I felt very nervous in the saddle. But I still had a good time.
For those of you who don’t know, my stepdad is a 1970 National Rodeo Champion, so he’s a cowboy. Him and my mom own three horses and will probably own more eventually. So I rode my mom’s horse, Dusty, while I was there. We traipsed over the 75 acre ranch and looked at the scenery… rode through a dry creek bed, trotted around the pond and steered clear of the bull… yes, they have a bull. Well, it’s not really theirs but they have one that grazes on their land. Then I got a snapshot of Kate on a horse with her Grandpa Mark. It was fun.

Kate wearing Grandma’s hat… how cute!

Me on a horsey… yeehaw!

J.D. had us over for dinner tonight with Jonathan, Tiffany and Jeremy. It was awesome! He cooked wings and hamburgers for us. Yummy! My bro sure has a talent for fattening me up. It’s at times like these when I thank God for my family. I am so blessed to have them in my life. They are truly a gift!

Some of you may know and some of you may not. I was born and raised in Texas. Pretty much lived there nonstop until the age of 13 and then we moved to New York. Well, last week I took a trip to my homeland, flying down to Texas with Kate to visit my mom for a few days. I’m too tired to delve into all the events of the past week but I’ll share bits and pieces over the next couple of days. All in all, we had a great time!
First Flight
We flew on Southwest (the best airline EVER!) on Wednesday. It was Kate’s first time flying so I was extremely nervous but it ended up working out just fine. Everyone on the flight was so nice and helpful. The flight attendants were beyond friendly… they were great! They were even helping me take things out of Kate’s diaper bag.
At one point our plane was waiting at the terminal in Birmingham, AL for a few minutes while new passengers boarded. A flight attendant approached me and said, “I just washed my hands. Can I hold her?” I said, “Sure,” and handed Kate to her. The flight attendant then proceeded to walk into the cockpit and hand Kate to one of the pilots. The pilot played with her, bouncing her up and down, and then held her up standing her on the console and introduced her to the other pilot. The whole time I just kept thinking, “Kenny is not going to believe this.”
They also gave me a certificate commemorating Kate’s first flight and all the flight attendants and pilots signed it. Good times.
