Wow! Time sure does fly! Kate is now 20 days old. Almost a month! She hasn’t really gotten much bigger… still a tiny little thing. She’s fast asleep right now in the bassinet beside me (we’ll see how long that lasts) so I’m trying to get in some phone calls to insurance companies, etc. that I haven’t been able to make for weeks. Yuck! It’ll feel good to get something done though.
I’m very much looking forward to her six week doctor’s check-up. She’s supposed to get the rest of her vaccines and then mommy can finally start going places again. Yippee! Once she’s had her vaccines I can take her to public places. The pediatrician highly cautioned us against taking her anywhere until then since it’s flu season. So I’ll finally be able to go to church and the bank and the grocery store and to Camino Real. I guess it’s sad when I’m looking forward to that, huh?

So my life totally consists of and revolves around feeding little Miss Kate. She was born at 6 pounds 4 ounces and at the doctor’s office on Wednesday she was down to 5 pounds 12 ounces. Well, I am proud to say she has gained weight and when we went to the doctor’s office today, she was up to 5 pounds 15 1/2 ounces. Woohoo! The doctor was very happy and said we could now go from waking her up every three hours during the night to waking her up every four hours. Hallelujah!
For everyone that has called me, texted me, or left comments for me the last week or so and I have not responded, I am truly sorry. My life has been turned upside down and, as you can imagine, I have been extremely busy taking care of my new little bundle of joy. I plan on checking my 22 voicemail messages soon and getting back with everyone soon. If you need me, please text. You have more of a chance that I will actually get the text and be able to respond. If I don’t answer, please text me again. I probably fell asleep in the middle of reading your text and forgot to respond. ;-) LOL
Also, thank you to everyone who has offered us support, love and prayers since Kate was born. We have been overwhelmed with help and are truly thankful. Thank you for the delicious meals you have cooked, the company you have shared, the gifts you have brought… but more importantly, thank you for the love you have shown for our baby Kate. We are truly blessed.

and yes, I’m still alive. We just got home about 30 minutes ago and she’s sleeping right now. I’m trying to eat lunch really quick and then take a quick nap before I have to wake her up again to feed.
Sorry I’m not posting much right now. I just wanted everyone to hear from me and know everything is going really well. Of course tonight will be the true test cause it’s our first night without the nursery staff.

Kate has still not arrived. But things are steadily progressing towards her coming soon.
WARNING! Graphic details concerning my pregnancy are about to follow. If you don’t want to know, then don’t read it.
I lost my mucous plug this morning and the doctor said I am now 2 cm dilated and 80% effaced. She said my cervix is nice and thin so now I’m just waiting for my water to break or the contractions to be five minutes apart for an hour. Those are the two things they look for.
I am scheduled for induction on March 10th if she doesn’t come before then. They would hook me up to a pitocin (sp?) IV and that would start labor artificially. I really would rather not do that so hopefully she’ll come on her own soon.
I walked yesterday for about 30 minutes so I’ll try to walk again today and see if that helps.

God has blessed me tremendously. Sometimes I take this for granted and complain about every little thing that’s hard or every little thing that’s going wrong instead of thinking instead of God’s blessings and what He has done for me. I’ve been trying to work on that lately so I’m starting a habit I used to do from 2006-2007 where I kept a prayer journal. I would record my prayer requests and then record the answered prayer requests. This helped me see the results of my prayers and God’s faithfulness in black and white and reminds me how awesome He really is.
I’m also going to purposefully start memorizing Scripture this year. I’m starting with the Romans Road Scriptures because I feel like I need to have those memorized by heart and feel comfortable enough to recall them quickly if I’m praying for someone. I’ve prayed with people for salvation so many times and didn’t really feel comfortable with how to lead them in the sinner’s prayer so I think this will help.
I’m not saying any of this to brag on myself or say, “ooh, look at how spiritual I am.” I want to improve my walk with God and draw closer to Him and I think these are some small things I can do that will help me accomplish that. I also know one of my weaknesses is being negative and I think this will help me put into practice the Scripture verse, “8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9
I hope you can find something to improve on in your spiritual walk. There is nothing more important in life than your personal walk with God. Hope everyone has a very blessed day! Love you!
